sailing houses

The “Sail Houses” conceive of the psyche as architecture.

Note on the "Sailing House" series (©MW230823):

A life built upon a towering journey,

grown from time that has passed and crossroads we have walked.

Storms had to break in here so that we might learn to rebuild foundations

whose stability had always been uncertain.

"From time immemorial” everything has existed: the scorching gusts of the south, the yearning call of the distant north wind, and even the faintly whistling drafts that swirl through the nooks and crannies of every house, creating ghostly echoes.

But whoever has a sailing house can sail close to the wind, for they have seen all these cliffs. They know their meaning — perhaps feeling it more than understanding it. Whoever has a sailing house does not see himself as exposed to the winds, but dwells within them and continues to build upward

— into the heaven of eternity.
